Speaker Series – Peter Duncan – Threads of our Legacy

PETER DUNCAN – President and CEO

A former member of the National Alpine Ski Team from 1960 to 1971, Peter Duncan collected 21 medals at Canadian championships, winning one as a junior and three with the National Team, where he was captain from 1966 to 1971. At the World Cup, he finished 7th at the combined event in Val Gardena in Italy, and 9th at the Innsbruck Games in 1964 in addition to an honorable run down the slopes of Grenoble in 1968.

 

Peter was elected to the Canadian Ski Hall of Fame in 1985 and to the “Musée de Ski des Laurentides“ in 1989 and to the “Temple de la Renommée du Sport du Québec“ in 2007. Peter Duncan, a man with a radiant personality, was also awarded the Governor General`s medal commemorating the 125th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada in 1992 for his significant contribution to his compatriots, his community and his country.

 

His second career on the mics of large TV networks was also a resounding success. He worked at the Sapporo and Lake Placid Games, where he was also as Assistant Chef de Mission. Peter was present at the microphone in Sarajevo, Calgary, Albertville, Barcelona, Lillehammer, Salt Lake City, Turin, Vancouver, Sochi and at the World Cup from 1972 to 2014.

 

The Olympian, who is a board member of the “Foundation Sablon“, chaired and co-founded the “Fondation Tremblant“, chaired the Board of Directors of “Ski Québec Alpin“ and was a member of the Board of Ski Canada. He was the director and chair of the International Ski Racers Association based in Aspen, and sits on the Board of Directors of the “Temple de la Renommée du Ski Canadien“.
