Canada Revenue Agency Child Disability Benefit (CDB)

Tax-free benefit for families who care for a child under age 18 who is eligible for the disability tax credit (under the condition that a medical practitioner certifies that the child has a severe and prolonged impairment in physical or mental functions).

Employment Insurance (EI) Compassionate Care Benefits
EI benefits paid to qualified individuals who have to be away from work temporarily to provide care or support to a family member who is gravely ill or injured, for a maximum of 35 weeks depending on the situation. Applicants are encouraged to use the online application process.

L’Office des personnes handicapées du Québec
Supports the public participation of people with disabilities in Quebec. They do this by carrying out research, sharing with organizations government policy and initiatives that could affect people with disabilities, collaborating with other entities that serve them and providing direct services such as free guides and information. The website is mainly in French, however, there is a documentation centre which has valuable literature to help and support persons with disabilities and their families.

Quebec Assistance and Social Solidarity (Basic Income Program)
The Social Solidarity Program is intended for a single adult or for families in which one or more adults have severely limited capacity for employment (https://www.quebec.ca/en/family-and-support-for-individuals/social-assistance-social-solidarity#c67410). This program provides financial assistance and promotes integration and social participation. The amount allocated varies according to the composition of the family and other criteria, such as type of accommodation, income or assets.
